When The Religion Politicized, Legitimation Crisis Appears
By: Saddam husain
The debate of relationship
between religion and politic is reappeared in Indonesia recently because
sequence tragedies and cases such as corruption of import beef and suplying of
holy qur’an that happen to islamic political parties and some secular parties.
Obviously, Islam in
Prophet era was a political power. Because of islamic teaching the great
civilization was reached through “the charter of Madina”. At that time every tribe, race and even religion lived
in Madina harmoniously. This was because Islam as a political system was based
on the thinking of Qur’an and lead by the ideal leader, Muhammad s.a.w.. As a
result, “the charter of madina” and its golden history nowadays inspire many
countries to adopt Islam as their political power to create the public order
and of course the “glory of islam” like Prohet Muhammad did.
However, Prophet era and
this era is absolutely different. No wonder if Islam succedded to organize the
civil society because it was lead by the holy one, the son of Abdullah. But
nowadays, especially in Indonesia some political parties that use the symbol of
islam as their jargon are only pretext to persuade if not deceive society to
elect them. Their pictures, billboards, taglines and campaigns are very islamic
as if they are the angel who sent by the God to help the human being.
Furthermore, in term of poltical view religion has been created to spoil the
society with the beautiful promises.
I personally think that
Islam is a perfect rules to be constitution because islam with its holy book
regulates everything to do, Islam builds the ideal politic to run.But “Islam”
is the worst system ever when it is used to be a pretext to get a domination
and then use it as the mask to do corruption, collusion, nepotism, despotism,
and suppression. In this case, public distrust increases over and over because
the society is disappointed with the beautiful pomises that never come true. In
other word, “legitimation crisis” fall on islamic political parties.
